New to smoothies? Start here. It’s fast, simple and beautifully easy on the taste buds. This really works for me as a morning rise and shine kind of a smoothie bowl – an excellent option when energy is needed all morning through.
Top with nuts to add texture and plenty of healthy fats. Almonds have an array of health benefits over and above other nuts. This includes a rich source of Vitamin E, calcium, phosphorus, iron and magnesium.
Whichever nuts you opt for – always choose nuts that are raw and unsalted. Finally, it’s a good idea to soak your nuts in warm, filtered water the night before. This not only breaks down many of the enzyme inhibitors, but also makes for a much creamier almond milk for your smoothie or smoothie bowl. If you want to make this one into a smoothie, add an extra 1/2 Cup of water or coconut water.
Blend all ingredients until smooth and top with your favourite toppings.
